Golden State Warriors Injury Woes Continue

SAN FRANCISCO – The Golden State Warriors can’t seem to catch a break on the injury front this season. The team released its latest injury report on December 14th ahead of their Saturday night game against the Houston Rockets, and it contains some bad news for the defending champions.

Star forward Andrew Wiggins has been ruled out for the contest with right adductor tightness. Wiggins exited this past Wednesday’s loss against the Indiana Pacers in the third quarter and did not return. This will be the third straight game he has missed as he continues to nurse the adductor issue.

Veteran guard Chris Chiozza has also been listed as out with a right hand injury after leaving Wednesday’s game early. It is not clear when or how he sustained the hand injury.

Finally, center James Wiseman and forward Andre Iguodala remain sidelined as they deal with injury recoveries of their own. Wiseman is recovering from a second knee surgery he underwent last March and has yet to make his season debut. Iguodala is working his way back from a hip injury that has plagued him for over a week now.

The Warriors are still awaiting the season debut of guard Chris Paul, who continues to rehab from a devastating leg fracture he endured during last year’s playoffs. While the team is hopeful he can return to action soon, Paul remains without an official timeline to get back on the court.

Depth and health issues continue to trouble Golden State in their quest to win back-to-back championships. Steve Kerr will once again have to tinker with his lineups as the Warriors take on the 5-18 Rockets on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30PM PT at the Chase Center.
