The LCK Challengers League 2024 Spring Season (LCK CL 2024 Spring) is the first split of Korea’s secondary league featuring rosters from all ten LCK organizations. The league, which started on January 17 and will end on March 31, showcases the talent and potential of the next generation of Korean League of Legends players.
The LCK CL 2024 Spring follows a double round-robin format, with each team playing 18 best-of-three matches. The top six teams will qualify for the playoffs, where they will compete in a double-elimination bracket for the title and the prize pool.
The first and second seeds will receive a bye to the semifinals, while the third to sixth seeds will start from the quarterfinals. The playoffs will take place from April 3 to April 7.
The prize pool for the LCK CL 2024 Spring is ₩375,000,000 KRW (≃ $282,439 USD), with the winner taking home ₩200,000,000 KRW (≃ $150,634 USD). The runner-up will receive ₩100,000,000 KRW (≃ $75,317 USD), while the third and fourth place teams will get ₩50,000,000 KRW (≃ $37,659 USD) and ₩20,000,000 KRW (≃ $15,063 USD) respectively.
The fifth and sixth place teams will not receive any prize money, but they will earn 20 and 10 championship points respectively, which will count towards the LCK CL 2024 Summer qualification.
The LCK CL 2024 Spring features some of the most promising and exciting players in the Korean scene, who are eager to prove themselves and challenge the established LCK teams. Some of the notable players include:
- Quad, the mid laner of FlyQuest Challengers, who joined the team after leaving Nongshim RedForce in December 2023. Quad is known for his aggressive and flashy playstyle, as well as his proficiency on champions such as LeBlanc, Zoe and Akali.
- YamatoCannon, the top laner of KT Rolster Challengers, who is the son of the famous European coach YamatoCannon. YamatoCannon joined the team in January 2024, after playing for Fox Gaming in the European Masters. YamatoCannon is a versatile and consistent player, who can play both tanks and carries.
- GBM, the mid laner of T1 Esports Academy, who is a veteran of the Korean scene, having played for teams such as CJ Entus, Jin Air Green Wings, NRG Esports and Vitality. GBM returned to Korea in December 2023, after coaching T1’s main roster for two years. GBM is a creative and unpredictable player, who can surprise his opponents with his unconventional picks and strategies.
The LCK CL 2024 Spring is not only a competition but also a platform for the future stars of the LCK to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience. The league also serves as a feeder system for the LCK, as the LCK teams can scout and recruit players from the LCK CL.
